Review of 'Airborne', our iBooks anthology for iPad

Very nice review on the Anna Livia Review website (here) by Ann Fallon of Airborne: New Poetry from Ireland, our recent anthology in the iBooks format for Apple's iPad.

The anthology is available at the very reasonable price of €3.99 on the iTunes store (here) and could be the ideal introduction to contemporary Irish poetry for students or exploring readers.

Leeanne Quinn reads in Galway 30/08/2012

The first ‘Over The Edge: Open Reading’ after the summer break takes place in Galway City Library on Thursday, August 30th, 6.30-8.00pm. The Featured Readers are Leeanne Quinn, Pat Finnegan & Adedotun Adekeye. The reading is sponsored by Poetry Ireland and the MC is Kevin Higgins.

Leeanne Quinn's debut collection of poems, Before You, was published by Dedalus Press in 2011 and was widely praised on its publication, including in The Stinging Fly by Lucy Collins: "These are intimate and finely-tuned lyrics, observant of subjective states

and patterns of shared experience … Quinn’s sensitivity to the relationship between form and meaning is highlighted in Before You not so much by her choice of fixed forms but by her loosening of poetic structure".

Macdara Woods shortlisted for Poetry Now Award 2012

Great to see Macdara Woods among those shortlisted for the 2012 Irish Times dlr Poetry Now Award for his 2011 collection, The Cotard Dimension.

The shortlisting is all the more fitting given that Dedalus launch his comprehensive Collected Poems at this year's festival on Sunday 9th September @ 6.30 pm in Dun Laoghaire's Maritime Museum.

This very special event will feature music by Benjamin Dwyer, Donnacha Dwyer and Kenneth Edger (who have collaborated with the poet previously), as well as special guests who will choose favourite poems by Woods to read on the day.

The event is presented in association with Poetry Ireland and will be introduced by poet and Poetry Ireland Director Joseph Woods.

The other poets shortlisted for the 2012 Irish Times dlr Poetry Now Award are Moya Cannon for Hands (Carcanet Press), Michael Longley for A Hundred Doors (Cape Poetry), John Montague for Speech Lessons (Gallery Press) and Bernard O’Donoghue for Farmers Cross (Faber and Faber). Further details on the award shortlist can be found at The Irish Times here.
